THE WAR OF THE ROSES
In the war of the roses Henry the VII fought hard against Richard III. Henry had his armies and Lord Stanley’s army. Rhys Ap Thomas was on Henry’s side.
It is believed he was the one who killed Richard the III. It took Henry fifteen day’s to get to Ambion Hill where the battlefield was. It took Richard twenty-two days because he started seven days before Henry. The battle of Bosworth started on the 22nd of August 1485.
THE WEAPONRY
ARCHERS
Used longbows and short bows. Longbows could shoot an arrow through an 8 Centimetre thick oak door.
PIKE-MEN
Used pikes, they were for stabbing horsemen, the pikes heads were shaped like axes and swords combined together.
CANNONS
The Mon’s Meg was the most famous cannon in the whole of Britain it weighed 5 tons. It could fire a stone ball nearly two miles. It was used in the Spanish Armada. |
