Pirates

John Callice was a Tudor pirate born near Tintern Abbey.

It is said that his parents died  when he was very small so he was sent to London to be brought up by a man who had been Lord Mayor. The man did not want John around so he sent him out to sea as soon as he could. John was  a pirate before he was a teenager.

Sometimes ships stay out at sea. They ate bugs such as woodlice, worms, and snails.

Sir Walter Raleigh
A poet, tudor courtier and adventurer. Sir Walter Raleigh was born in 1554. He was a handsome man with brown hair and was one of Elizabeth’s favourite courtiers. He was also a poet and a fearless adventurer.
