Our Visit to Pembroke Castle
By Katie and Ben
During the half term holiday we visited Pembroke Castle.

We wanted to visit the castle because we have been studying the Tudors at school. Pembroke Castle was the birthplace of Henry Tudor. Henry VII was a king of Tudor times. We went to all the towers. I found out that the great tower had 101 steps.
When I visited Pembroke castle and we went to see the towers my favourite was the great tower it was the biggest tower of them all. Dungeon tower is where Henry VII kept his unpleasant knights. In this photo, I am standing at the entrance to the dungeon.

There was a really big moat around the castle. The moat is really clean you can see the reflection of the castle in it.
The castle is about 12,000 years old. When the Tudors weren’t even born the Celts started building Pembroke castle. Later Margaret Beaufort lived in Pembroke castle and that was where Henry VII was born and that was where the Tudor dynasty started.

This photo shows the birth of young Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond - who would become Henry VII. |
