TUDOR HOUSES
by Emily and Luke

The Tudor period lasted for 118 years and
things improved during that time.

The early houses of the rich had a large room high ceiling a fire in the centre and the hole in the roof for the smoke to escape.

Later houses were built with chimneys so rooms became smaller with a fireplace in every room and windows with glass making living more comfortable.

Some houses were made of local materials such as stone or slate.

The houses of the poor were very different. Poor houses were smaller and people often lived in the same room as their animals. Beds were made of wood and they slept huddled together to keep warm animal skin was used as blankets.
