Tudor Food
by Ellie and Vivien

During our study of food in the time of the Tudors, we found out
lots of interesting things;

Did you know that men would put napkins on their shoulders and ladies would put napkins on their laps?

Bread was used as we do today but they also used it for a plate. They would scoop out the soft bread and use the crust to hold their dinner.

Tudors would drink beer and wine instead of water because the water would not be clean enough to drink (and they could die from illnesses).

The rich would often have three courses, for example;

First course

Brawn
Roast Tyne
Leg of pork
Roast Beef
Meat pie
And such more

Second course

Roast lamb
Bread

Desserts

Tarts and custard
Fruit and Berries etc.

Tudors  made a drink from squeezing fruit and boiling fruit,
the same thing some people would do today.

 Did you know that in the Tudor period
they had tea and coffee and chocolate?
