Chester
By Catherine

In the half term I went to Chester. Chester is a very old city with Roman walls and bridges. Lots of the houses were built in Tudor Times.

You can walk on the tops of some of the shops.

These are called the Chester rows. In the Tudor Times they had a market on the rows. The Chester Rows are the only example of rows in the world.

This is one of Chesters’ oldest houses.

They made the houses out of English oak Timbers.

They were painted with black tar. The white paint was wattle and daub then painted with limewash. All of the houses were not black and white some looked stony. The Welsh ones were stony and the English had black and white houses.
