This term, Class 4 has been looking closely at the Tudors. We have focused some of our attention on the houses, lived in during the period.
Most often, a Tudor house is seen as a black and white building. However, we went to see two houses in St. Fagan’s that demonstrated that Tudors used materials that were available locally.
For example, we went to see Y Garreg Fawr that was found in Snowdonia and so used the local material slate for the roof and the walls.
Hendre’r Ywydd Uchaf was a farmhouse and so used the local available product of straw to make their roof.
The two houses are very different and show us the different classes within the Tudors.
Y Garreg Fawr has two chimneys to show that they were well off as well as have an upstairs, whereas the farmhouse and three small rooms and the animals shared the house with the farmers.

The children have been given the chance to try and sell these two houses. They have had to think closely about the positive aspects to sell for each house.
